History

A tradition of quality architectural precast and cast stone was started by Andrew Pedroni in Jacksonville, FL in 1923 when he began working at Jacksonville Concrete Products. He had immigrated to the United States from Carrara, Italy in 1910 after receiving his training from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. There he majored in sculpture and modeling as well as advanced work in marble and granite stone cutting.

After WWII, Pedroni and his sons Frank and Chris started their own company, Southern Ornamental Cast Stone Works. They were one of the first precasters to experiment with colored cast stone. Southern Ornamental Cast Stone Works produced precast and cast stone products for private residences, federal buildings, churches, and state universities across Florida.

In 1984, William Craig Pedroni, the grandson of Andrew Pedroni started what would become Pedroni's Cast Stone, Inc. Craig's father Frank, was one of the founding members of the Architectural Precast Association and helped establish specifications for the industry.

James Malenfant, Sr. started his career in 1990 in the Jacksonville area in waterproofing becoming a waterproofing superintendent and concrete repair specialist. James and Craig met in 1999 and partnered together to create Precast Solutions, Inc. By February 2012, James founded Precast and Restoration Services Inc on his own to focus on installation, waterproofing, and preservation/historical restoration while Craig continued the manufacturing side with Pedroni's Cast Stone. Late in 2016, Precast and Restoration Services Inc bought the manufacturing plant for Pedroni's Cast Stone and the two merged in August 2020 with Precast and Restoration Services assuming management of the manufacturing plant.

Precast and Restoration Services Inc continues the 97-year Pedroni tradition of producing quality architectural cast stone.
